Lead Carpenter Job Summary Lead carpentry and masonry operations providing technical leadership, project coordination, and safety compliance for commercial building systems. Supervise teams while ensuring code compliance, quality standards, and client satisfaction through comprehensive project management and team development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with completed carpentry/masonry apprenticeship program (4 years)
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification preferred or equivalent JLL training
  • 5+ years carpentry/masonry experience with 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Experience with commercial building systems and building codes interpretation
  • Proficient in installation, maintenance, repair, and blueprint reading
  • Background in ADA compliance requirements and cross-disciplinary coordination
  • Understanding of building systems integration and scaffolding management
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and construction specifications
  • Knowledge of millwork installation, architectural finishes, and fall protection protocols
  • Experience with cost estimation, project coordination, and quality control standards
  • Strong communication skills for multi-trade coordination and stakeholder management
  • Problem-solving with project management and mentoring capabilities
  • Physical ability to perform carpentry work and manage safety requirements
  • Leadership skills including team building and conflict resolution
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Advanced carpentry certifications, building code administration, and project management
  • Fall protection inspection certifications and construction safety training
  • Specialized trade licenses and permit coordination experience
  • Experience with historical preservation, BIM integration, and digital construction tools
  • Knowledge of emergency repair protocols and environmental compliance (lead paint, asbestos)
  • Background in apprenticeship program development and disaster recovery procedures
  • Understanding of structural systems, temporary shoring, and emergency stabilization

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate carpentry and masonry installations, maintenance, and repairs while reviewing building plans and specifications
  • Ensure code compliance including ADA requirements and troubleshoot complex building systems
  • Develop quality standards for millwork, cabinetry, and architectural finishes while coordinating with MEP systems
  • Manage tenant improvements, preventive maintenance schedules, and emergency repair capabilities
  • Lead and mentor carpenters, masons, and apprentices while coordinating work crews and trades
  • Develop Job Safety Analysis, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and implement fall protection programs
  • Conduct safety briefings, incident investigations, and ensure OSHA compliance with PPE management
  • Participate in hiring staff, conduct performance evaluations, and recommend professional development
  • Manage tenant improvement coordination and facility management representation
  • Develop maintenance schedules for doors, windows, millwork, and building envelope components
  • Coordinate emergency response protocols and disaster recovery procedures
