About The Position

The position involves performing carpentry at the highest level as required, supervising laborers, apprentice carpenters, carpenters, and subcontractors. The role requires making work assignments, monitoring quality, and motivating the crew while ensuring respect among the work crew. Timely completion of work to maintain schedule and budget goals is essential, along with ensuring job safety, protection, and maintenance of company tools. Regular client contact is necessary throughout the duration of projects, assisting with requested cost updates and training carpenters and apprentice carpenters.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years carpentry experience.
  • Good communication, job coordination, and supervisory skills.
  • Extensive rough and finish carpentry skills including roof cut-ins.
  • Superior knowledge of construction methods and techniques.
  • Good working knowledge of related building trades.
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with crew, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Teaching skills.
  • Reliable work vehicle and a good driving record.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting 80 pounds.
  • Must have basic hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret paperwork, including all plans and specifications, purchase orders, and subcontractor work orders.
  • Understand the scope of the work and discuss all requests for additional work with the Production Manager.
  • Participate in a pre-construction conference and job site inspections.
  • Maintain an organized field file and rolling punch list.
  • Request help as required, anticipating the need for additional carpenters for timely scheduling.
  • Report late subcontractors, discipline problems, and job status to the Production Manager.
  • Order materials and coordinate subcontractors, planning ahead for timely material delivery and start dates.
  • Responsible for end of day procedures, including clean up, weather protection, and security.
  • Provide job safety for clients, employees, and subcontractors, inspecting all equipment for safety features.
  • Follow all quality control checklists.
  • Maintain discipline of employees and subcontractors on the job.
  • Respect the work of previous contractors and ensure your work aids rather than impedes future contractors.
