About The Position

The Lead Cake Decorator at United Supermarkets is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while producing high-quality cake products. This role emphasizes building a positive atmosphere within the bakery department and ensuring that every guest feels valued during their experience. The Lead Cake Decorator will oversee the decorating team, maintain food safety standards, and manage production tasks to meet the bakery's goals.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years' experience in retail cake decorating and volume production.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment efficiently and effectively.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending, lifting, and walking.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
• Ability to work within a freezer for up to 15 minutes.
• Flexibility to work various hours/shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Current food safety certification required.
• Ability to function as a team member and maintain good relationships with others.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests upon entering the department.
• Develop decorators to produce quality products and differentiate in service.
• Maintain a positive atmosphere and morale within the department.
• Support and execute division concepts and programs.
• Communicate information effectively to the decorating team.
• Follow Bakery Food Safety Procedures and Sanitation Schedule.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the work environment.
• Assign production tasks according to the Weekly Production Schedule and ensure completion.
• Ensure adherence to recipes, systems, and policies.
• Maintain decorator reference materials and perform all decorating tasks.
• Safeguard and monitor all bakery assets.
• Participate in meetings with the bakery management team to plan production and promotion goals.
• Complete special orders and wedding cakes according to department policy.
• Draft decorating supply orders and assist in inventory processes.
• Assist in break-out and dishwashing as needed.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
