We are looking for full-time applicants available from 7am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. This role also includes some evenings and weekends throughout the year. This position does require a minimum of one year of professional kitchen/restaurant experience, preferably with increasing responsibilities including troubleshooting day-to-day issues during production, inventory management and ordering, and people management. This position does require that you have your ServSafe Food Handler Certificate, as well as the ServSafe Manager Certificate or the ability to obtain the Manager Certificate within 90 days. This position does require that you be over the age of 21 with a valid driver license and clean driving record. You will have the opportunity to focus on creating healthy, tasty meals for youth members by: overseeing completion of menus and production lists for cafeteria service, including direct preparation of meals and snacks and determining menu substitutions; monitoring inventory and ordering supplies and food items as necessary, as well as manual stocking and rotating dry, freezer, and refrigerator storage; and providing direction to cooks, drivers, members, and volunteers as needed. This position is expected to be highly accountable for kitchen oversite and completion of production, as this role is the head position in this kitchen. As part of this, this position does oversee the other clubhouse cook, and being respectful and encouraging in the kitchen is key to this role. While you will get on-site support from a dedicated director with Club expertise, kitchen and food services support will be from the offsite Director of Food Services, so you will be expected to have basic experience with kitchen management and to work as a somewhat self-contained two-person team. These are some of the additional things you will do as a member of Boys & Girls Club kitchens team: Perform basic and advanced kitchen math, including adjusting quantities and measurement conversions. Follow all guidelines and requirements for grant-funded food service. Track food service and meals as necessary for grant reporting. Wash, chop, and sort ingredients. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including washing dishes, utensils, and cookware; sanitizing equipment and floors/areas; and trash removal. Encourage and motivate all staff and youth. Maintain the safety of our children and staff, and ensure an optimal experience for all.
