The Lead Buyer position at Stabilus is a pivotal role within the company's U.S. Headquarters located in Gastonia, NC. As a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers, Stabilus serves a diverse range of industries including automotive, office chair manufacturing, furniture technology, solar technology, and medical technology. The Lead Buyer will be integral in developing a robust, reliable, and quality-focused supply base that is also price competitive. This role requires a proactive approach to both internal operations and external market analysis, ensuring that the company maintains its competitive edge in the market. In this role, the Lead Buyer will collaborate closely with the NAFTA Purchasing teams, engaging in systematic data gathering and evaluation of suppliers. This includes monitoring supplier performance through scorecards and establishing effective communication channels with both new and existing suppliers. The Lead Buyer will leverage networking skills to identify new supply opportunities and will conduct benchmarking research to ensure that the company is aligned with industry standards. Regular communication with counterparts in Germany and NAFTA, as well as collaboration with Engineering and Quality departments during new part introductions, will be essential. The Lead Buyer will also be responsible for everyday interactions with in-house operations and suppliers, addressing delivery and quality issues as they arise. This position requires a strategic mindset, as the Lead Buyer will need to locate, develop, and set up new suppliers, maintain a comprehensive supplier database, and support various departments within the organization, including Quality, Engineering, and Logistics. The role demands a strong understanding of the purchasing process, cost structures, and the dynamics of the supply market, particularly for indirect goods and services.
