About The Position

As a Leading Building Engineer at JLL, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing critical building systems to ensure optimal facility operations while providing leadership and technical guidance to the maintenance team. This role requires you to work hands-on with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems while supporting preventative maintenance programs and emergency response activities with advanced technical expertise. You'll lead maintenance operations, coordinate with contractors and vendors, and ensure quality work delivery while managing building automation systems and optimizing facility performance that reflects JLL's commitment to operational excellence and superior client service in facility management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years of trades schooling in electrical systems, refrigeration, and HVAC, or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in building maintenance, plumbing, and electrical systems with demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills for effective client and team interaction
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent mechanical aptitude and leadership potential
  • Thorough understanding of safety protocols and environmental regulations related to facility operations
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, boilers, and chilled water systems
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and motor repair with commercial applications
  • Experience with plumbing systems including pumps and water treatment systems
  • Understanding of fire/life safety systems and emergency procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex technical challenges
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in various positions including confined spaces
  • Comfortable working at heights and in mechanical rooms with industrial equipment
  • Manual dexterity for precision work with tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls outside regular business hours

  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire/life safety, and building automation systems with comprehensive technical oversight
  • Respond to emergency service calls and troubleshoot complex equipment malfunctions in timely manner while providing technical guidance to team members
  • Conduct preventative maintenance activities including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and replacing components with advanced technical proficiency
  • Monitor building automation systems and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance while training junior technicians
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare detailed reports, and manage inventory for equipment and supplies with meticulous attention to detail
  • Utilize Microsoft Word and Excel for comprehensive reporting and documentation of maintenance activities and system performance
  • Track maintenance schedules, equipment warranties, and service history for optimal facility management
  • Prepare technical reports and recommendations for management and client review
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors to ensure quality work and competitive pricing while maintaining vendor relationships
  • Oversee contractor performance and ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and make recommendations for service contracts and major repairs
  • Manage contractor schedules and coordinate work to minimize disruption to facility operations
  • Replace lighting fixtures, ballasts, and perform electrical repairs as needed with advanced electrical troubleshooting capabilities
  • Conduct motor repair and electrical system maintenance with expertise in commercial electrical systems
  • Maintain fire/life safety systems and ensure compliance with emergency procedures and regulations
  • Troubleshoot and repair building automation systems and energy management systems
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior maintenance staff
  • Lead emergency response activities and coordinate team efforts during critical situations
  • Assist in training programs and skill development for maintenance team members
  • Support management in strategic planning for facility improvements and upgrades
