The Lead Building Engineer at CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating building systems within a client facility. This position involves leading shift operations, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the performance of various building systems through preventive maintenance and repairs. The role emphasizes safety and requires a combination of technical skills across multiple trades.

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
  • Lead shift operations, assign work orders, and provide technical/procedural training to coworkers and subcontractors.
  • Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.
  • Arrange, oversee and inspect work performed by outside contractors.
  • Stay in sync with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Consult with clients to schedule preventive maintenance and other downtime to minimize business interruption and inconvenience.
  • Implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
  • Cultivate positive working relationships with our Client and the Operations Maintenance team members.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed or assigned.
  • High School Diploma or GED + 4 years' experience in building equipment and operations OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective communication, presentation, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of financial terms and principles, as well as financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Proficiency using computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to solve problems and carry out general instructions in standard situations.
  • Ability to move up to 50lbs and physical requirements including stooping, standing, walking, and climbing stairs/ladders with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Universal CFC certification strongly preferred.
  • Additional certification in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
