About The Position

The Lead Writer will be a key member of the Creative Narrative team, responsible for crafting compelling narratives and ensuring creative integrity across various projects. This role involves collaboration with producers, designers, and the Brand Narrative team to deliver high-quality storytelling that aligns with Nike's brand strategy and seasonal themes.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of writing experience in an agency, brand, or social environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Writing, Advertising, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A passion for athletes, sports, and culture.
  • Deep knowledge of the digital ecosystem and Nike, including sports, athletes, and culture.
  • A portfolio showcasing social and brand writing across platforms with a distinctive voice and expert command of style and tone.
  • Understanding of writing within a brand organization and translating business priorities into engaging consumer-facing content.
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Experience in brand, digital, and social writing with a solid understanding of content platforms.
  • Good awareness of trends on social media platforms.
  • Strong time management skills to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a proactive approach to improving work.
  • Attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills.
  • A positive attitude and ability to adapt to changing business needs while maintaining creative quality.

Responsibilities

  • Help shape long-term and seasonal creative concepts in partnership with the Brand Narrative team and Art Direction teams.
  • Deliver best-in-class brand storytelling, including manifestos, social content, digital campaign content, headlines, and scriptwriting.
  • Ensure content meets the highest standards: on-brand, culturally aware, sport-authentic, platform right, distinctive, and engaging.
  • Drive brand awareness and deliver strong engagement through creative deliverables.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends in sports, design, culture, (social) media, and technology relevant to Nike and the writing team.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams including social, art direction, digital design, styling, photography, production, post-production, and marketing throughout the creative process.
  • Plan projects to ensure they are creatively exceptional and delivered on time.
  • Review project work for quality, consistency, accuracy, and successful completion.
  • Encourage and empower the team, producing fresh and effective storytelling through a high volume of work.
