About The Position

Under the direction of the Clinical Director and/or Educational Services leadership, this role provides behavioral oversight, clinical collaboration, and staff supervision to ensure high-quality psycho-educational and behavioral services for students with behavioral and developmental needs. The Lead Behavior Interventionist plays a critical role in assessing student behavior, supporting staff during behavioral escalations, guiding implementation of Behavior Support Plans, and supervising a caseload of counselors. This position is ideal for a behavior professional who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and is passionate about supporting students, families, and staff. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with 2+ years of experience working with children with behavioral or developmental disabilitiesOR4+ years of equivalent experience with the relevant population
  • Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification (required)
  • Strong skills in behavior assessment, data collection, and staff coaching
  • Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a special education or therapeutic school setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active member of the program’s Clinical Team
  • Provide ongoing behavioral assessment and communicate concerns or changes in student performance to the Clinical Director
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and monitoring of Behavior Support Plans
  • Support classroom staff during student behavioral escalations, including participation in code responses
  • Provide consultation and coaching to teachers and support staff on behavior plan implementation
  • Oversee training and consistent use of behavior management systems for assigned students
  • Monitor behavior data collection and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions
  • Participate in treatment team meetings and ensure follow-through on clinical decisions
  • Supervise a caseload of counselors, including: Coordinating required trainings Providing performance feedback and coaching Supporting performance improvement and addressing compliance concerns
  • Provide direct psycho-educational and behavioral services to students and families, individually and in groups
  • Participate in student intake, admissions, discharge planning, and progress/evaluation reporting
  • Collaborate with teachers, Operations staff, and leadership during student crises
  • Design and implement in-service training programs on best practices and innovations in the field
  • Maintain active RBT certification and comply with BACB standards
  • Maintain sight and sound supervision of students
  • Follow all mandated reporting requirements related to suspected abuse or neglect
  • Participate in faculty meetings, staff meetings, parent conferences, after-school and evening programs as needed
  • Attend required trainings and professional development opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
