About The Position

To assist program supervisor(s) with leadership, quality assurance, and support to Student Services staff and assist in the development, evaluation, supervision, and provision of behavioral treatment based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for individuals with Autism, Emotional Disturbances, and other developmental disabilities. The Lead Behavior Consultant position includes clinical supervision of other staff who primarily provide consultation to classroom staff and/or direct care to students. This position also serves as an expert resource in behavioral treatment for individuals with Autism, Emotional Behavior Disturbance and other development disabilities. This position also contributes to the clinical, training, and outreach activities of the Student Services Department.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in the field of Human Services, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or Education. (MS/MA Preferred)
Full certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM), Safety Care, or other restraint management system as required by the assignment.
Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA or BCBA-D)
At least five (5) years of successful experience working in an educational environment, in the field of autism, with students with mental health or emotional issues, in special education environments, in consultative models, as a community liaison having experience in diverse educational settings, or in a wide variety of service delivery models.
At least five (5) years of specific experiences and skills related to behavioral interventions, data collection, and analysis or treatment plans.
Strong verbal and written language skills.
Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize and conduct Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA).
Ability to provide training and consultation to clients.
Ability to build rapport with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Familiarity with Special Education rules and regulations.
Proficient computer skills and knowledge including use of Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software/systems as may be required.

Responsibilities

Participates as a member of educational team(s) and attends meetings as necessary and appropriate (e.g., IEP, classroom teaming, class reviews, etc.).
Assesses student needs; progress; and performance in social, emotional and behavioral, academic, and/or developmental areas.
Leads and assists educational staff in the development, maintenance, and implementation of classroom behavior plans, IEP goals, progress monitoring, positive behavioral support plans, and/or crisis management plans.
Leads and assists educational staff in the development and application of management techniques and strategies that supports the delivery of effective instruction.
Creates data collection tools in order to guide behavioral goal development in the IEP.
Collects and analyzes behavioral data to report on functional performance.
Provides case management services (i.e., ongoing review of student needs; resources; progress; performance; and acts as liaison between school, family, and community agencies) as applicable.
Maintains contact with appropriate agencies, private physicians and/or therapists, school district personnel, etc., regarding student needs and progress as appropriate.
Works with the Program Supervisor to plan and implement program operations.
Contributes towards development and maintenance of an environment which is non- threatening, safe, nurturing, and where the students feel respected, accepted, and welcomed.
Maintains a knowledge base of current theories and practices in the field by attending pertinent Professional Development/Continuing Education programs, networking with professional colleagues, and reading relevant professional literature.
Advises administrators and staff regarding best practices and regulations on behavioral interventions.
Provides or participates in professional development on pertinent topics related to the program assigned.
Attends staff or program planning meetings as assigned.
Completes all required reports and records within established timelines as required by Federal and State regulations and adheres to CAIU policies and procedures.
Transports students when necessary and only when accompanied by another staff member.
Supports the mission of the CAIU and its Strategic Plan.
Assumes any other responsibilities as assigned by Program Supervisor or his/her designee.

Supervise behavior staff ensuring that they meet or exceed performance standards
Provide graduate/undergraduate supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysis (BCBA)/BCaBA) students in accordance with Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
Provide oversight and monitoring of behavioral assessments and treatment programs to ensure high quality, effective, and ethical practices.
Interview, hire, and train new staff and provide ongoing feedback
Effectively model and lead a positive team environment, focusing on a supportive culture.
Provide meaningful employee training to effectively grow and develop skills.
Understand and demonstrate expertise in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Ability to train staff to fluency on various protocols and treatment techniques using verbal and written explanation, modeling, guided practice, and review of independent performance
Participate in ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills, professional development, ethics, technology, and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standard
