About The Position

SUMMARY: The Lead Behavior Analyst (BCBA) reports to the Clinical Director/Chief Psychologist/Senior Psychologist, and independently provides functional behavioral analytic services (assessment, treatment, and consultation) for patients in the CADD Inpatient and CADD Partial Programs. BCBAs also may provide supervision of graduate-level trainees. In addition to performing all of the Principal Duties and Responsibilities of the Behavior Analyst, the Lead Behavior Analyst supports training, coordination, and professional development of BCBAs across programs within the hospital setting. Requirements

Master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
Certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or pending certification (must provide evidence of Certification within the first year of employment).
Maintains BCBA certification by meeting BACB requirements.
Maintains up to date knowledge on BACB revisions and requirements to maintain certifications.
Licensure by the RI Department of Health as a licensed Behavior Analyst.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (i.e., word, excel etc.).
Minimum five years’ experience working with children and adolescents who present with developmental disabilities (autism and intellectual disability) and co-existing behavioral and psychiatric challenges; preference for prior experience working in a mental health setting.

Responsibilities

Supports onboarding, orienting and training of new hires.
Coordinates BCBA responsibilities across programs.
Supports professional development of BCBAs within the hospital setting
Facilitates peer supervision, individually and/or within a group setting, a minimum of once quarterly and as needed.
Completes chart reviews to ensure accurate and timely documentation
Implements evidence-based functional behavioral assessment and functional analysis procedures to address identified behaviors of concern targeted for treatment
Facilitates social-emotional skills building groups using evidence-based systems.
Creates and implements behavior intervention plans to occasion functionally alternative pro-social behaviors
Oversees implementation of behavior intervention plans.
Collaborates with clinical team members and communicates behavioral analytical concepts relevant to the intervention in a practical manner.
Models flexibility and uses solution-focused problem solving strategies to discuss behavioral interventions in an applied behavioral analytical manner when discussing problem behaviors and dealing with challenging behaviors or treatment approaches.
Attends weekly treatment team meetings.
Provides in-vivo staff coaching on how to effectively implement behavior intervention plans, to include feedback.
Maintains professional relationships with all members of the team.
Utilizes a functional assessment interview approach with families during intake/family meetings and with BHS staff to attain information-feedback on behavioral treatment approaches utilized.
Utilizes data collection system for analysis of behavioral treatment goals and communicates progress to treatment team.
Creates and facilitates staff education-training seminars on implementation of ABA principles and methodology and behavior reduction strategies.
Participates in family meetings assigned by clinical team to engage in parent coaching. To include providing parent education on the ABA principles and methodology and behavior reduction strategies.
Participates in collateral providers meetings (i.e., outpatient, school, family, etc.) to convey outcomes of assessments completed, behavioral interventions utilized, and data collection, to ensure continuity of care upon discharge.
Creates treatment fidelity system used during observations to ensure consistent implementation of behavior intervention plans across all staff members.
Connects with outside providers (i.e., BCBAs, schools, etc.) to obtain information on patients’ behavioral treatment history.
Oversees the purchasing and distribution of support materials used with patients as part of behavioral interventions (e.g., one-piece suits, protective equipment, etc.).
Documents assessment, treatment, and collateral contacts within the Electronic Medical Record.
Completes chart reviews to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
