About The Position

The Lead Barista is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of guest service while supporting daily coffee bar operations. This role provides guidance to barista team members, oversees shift execution, ensures quality and consistency, assists with training, and helps maintain an efficient, guest-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years customer service experience in food & beverage and/or retail environment
  • Previous cash handling and face-to-face customer service experience required
  • Ability to lead, train, and coach team members in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently input information into MICROS or POS system
  • Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and outside of your department
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow up on guest requests and needs in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be TABC & Food Handler certified
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching overhead, and twisting. Must be able to stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift

  • Previous coffee house and/or lead or shift supervisor experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests and associates
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
  • Act as shift supervisor in the absence of leadership
  • Lead and direct barista team members during assigned shifts
  • Delegate tasks and ensure proper shift coverage and workflow
  • Assist with daily shift planning, break coverage, and task assignments
  • Ensure drink quality, consistency, and presentation standards are maintained
  • Monitor service levels and adjust staffing or workflow as needed
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned
  • Perform shift walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness and readiness
  • Address guest concerns and escalate when appropriate
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new baristas
  • Provide coaching and real-time feedback to team members
  • Ensure beverage and food safety standards are followed
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate restock needs
  • Assist with monthly inventory and restocking merchandise
  • Ensure public areas are maintained and cleaned by liaison with housekeeping department
  • Maintain a clean workspace throughout entire shift
  • Follow proper procedure for accepting credit cards and checks
  • Assist with cash handling oversight and basic reconciliation support
  • Verify guest room numbers for room charges
  • Interact with other departments to ensure guest needs are satisfied
  • Adhere to proper food handling procedures
  • Demonstrate proper knowledge of equipment use and safety procedures
  • Must remain professional in all situations
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure environments
