About The Position

The Lead AVL Technician leads a crew of installation technicians at Summit Integrated project sites following industry standards and project plans. They work as an extension of the Project Foreman to ensure the effective and efficient execution of various installation tasks across a wide range of AVL system installation projects. As their skills develop, they may also manage and lead smaller or less complex installations independently. The Lead AVL Technician has at least intermediate proficiency in all advanced installation areas (Wire Pull, Terminations, Rigging, Field Install) and works without supervision. The Lead AVL Technician mentors and trains team members and ensures the on-site team operates in alignment with Summit Core Values. All essential functions must be performed without endangering the health and or safety of the individual or others.

  • Hours are variable, and will frequently be required to work overtime while on-site, followed by periods of unpaid time off. Hours generally average annually to 1 full-time employee. Required to be available for work seven days per week, Monday through Sunday
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • OSHA-30 Certification, Aerial Scissor, Boom and Forklift Certifications. Current DOT physical and Safety Certifications. (May be provided by Summit)
  • Experience: 2-5 years of hands-on experience in AVL system installation or a similar technical field. This experience will cover areas like wiring, terminations, rigging, and field installations. Proficiency in using tools and equipment commonly found in AVL installations. Familiarity with industry standards including safety protocols and regulations relevant to AVL system installation.
  • The ability to understand and solve problems, multitask numerous activities/projects and handle unexpected situations with calm and good judgment.
  • Adhere to routine verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Working under deadlines with speed and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Foreman in preparing the crew for installation readiness prior to projects. Review pack sheets, order sheets, pull sheets, install plans, and drawing sets for accuracy, providing feedback to the Foreman. Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day technician issues, allowing the Foreman to focus on complex tasks. Assist with managing on-site inventory, ensuring organization and availability of product & materials.
  • Execute foreman installation plans & oversee site operations for up to a week without supervision. Perform QC inspections to make sure our work consistently meets Summit Standards. Maintain a clean and organized jobsite, overseeing end-of-day cleanup and material organization.
  • Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and recommend process improvements in real-time. Coordinate AVL Technician logistics for travel & housing when needed. Provides QC assessments of crew work, noting to the crew & foreman when we’re not meeting quality standards. Actively coaches the team to achieve the proper standard of excellence required of the Summit Install Team.
  • Lead and execute the installation of audio, video, and lighting equipment, including preparation, wire pull, rigging, rack building, termination, and system testing. Builds & Maintains Fundamental, Intermediate & Advanced skillsets as outlined in the Technician Matrix.
  • Train AVL Technicians on basic and advanced skillsets as outlined in the AVL Technician matrix, and in line with Summit Standards. Provide feedback to technicians on how to advance their skill mastery.
  • Focus on delivering top-quality results in every task. Pay attention to details and follow the best practices to make sure everything is done correctly according to Summit Standards and Industry Best Practice.
  • Look for ways to make your tasks easier, faster, and more effective while still doing a great job. Regularly check in with leads & foreman on how well you are doing to make sure you are working efficiently, and completing the required amount of work.
  • Participates in the Summit CERTIFIED program, actively pursues higher levels of craftsmanship & technical ability. Must meet all core competency requirements of this position.
  • Actively participate in project preparation efforts, alongside the crew & foreman. Attend & engage in all project meetings, 1-1s, town halls, company wide events & other meetings as designated by leadership. Maintain active login credentials for company tools, stay updated on schedules, and submit expense reports, hours, & PTO/RTO requests in a timely manner.
