Requirements

  • A Bachelors level degree in Instrumentation / Electrical / Electronics / Computer Engineering / Controls Software /similar field of study or, equivalent combination of relevant work experience and certifications.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in equipment / electrical engineering, robotics / automation engineering
  • A strong understanding of electrical / electronic engineering principles, including circuit theory, power systems, and electrical safety.
  • Knowledge of control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Hands-on experience in PLC programming alongside proficiency in Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Functional Block Diagram (FBD).
  • Understanding of automation systems and robotics, including sensor technology, actuator systems, and robotics principles.
  • Should be able to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate technical information and collaborate with other team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working on Allen-Bradley factory automation equipment.
  • Experience with SLC500, MicroLogix PLC, ControlLogix PLC, RSLogix5000, CompactLogix PLC

Responsibilities

  • Review downtime, and apply Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) methods
  • Evaluate & approve changes to equipment or process for improving the running or downtime conditions
  • Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components, soliciting observations from operators
  • Identify and approve opportunities for improvement for Key Performance Indicators and for cost avoidance/elimination
  • Approve electrical engineering drawings at the various design completion levels
  • Ensure project schedules are on track and in alignment with budget to achieve construction cost estimates
  • Approve the use of new technologies/processes that can drive continuous improvement
  • Assist shutdown activities to achieve planned shutdown outcomes
  • Mentor associates and build new expertise and transfer expertise to equipment service, maintenance staff, and engineering to maximize electrical knowledge and capability
  • Work on complex/sophisticated projects and/or processes
  • Approve engineering design concepts
  • Assist in equipment installation while maintaining high accuracy workmanship
  • Adhere to equipment installation standards (drawings, compliance, data) to effectively improve MTBF (mean time between failures) and MTTR (mean time to repair)
  • Develop, implement, & maintain plant-wide reports for system utilization to drive continuous improvement
  • Provide technical expertise towards the increased efficiency of data utilization & leverage
  • Complex troubleshooting & analysis of equipment to resolve issues within these systems in a timely manner
  • Peer mentoring & development of other engineering members
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
