About The Position

Pine Tree Society, located in Bath, ME, is seeking a full-time Lead Audiologist to join the team. The Audiologist is responsible for supporting the hearing and communication needs of children and adults with disabilities. This position is responsible for assessing hearing function, maintaining hearing aids and assistive listening devices, and collaborating with staff to ensure effective communication strategies are in place. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise administrative support personnel and/or billing as needed.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in audiological screening, device troubleshooting, and assistive hearing technology.
  • Strong understanding of auditory processing, hearing loss, and communication strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals of all ages and disabilities.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-clinical staff.

  • AuD or Master’s degree in Audiology.
  • Current State of Maine Audiology license.
  • 3 years of experience in Audiology.

Responsibilities

  • Determines degree and origin of hearing loss by performing and interpreting complete, comprehensive audiological evaluations with diagnostic equipment; when indicated, recommends medical intervention, habilitative strategies, amplification and/or assistive listening devices.
  • Dispenses and fits hearing aids consistent with the rules and regulations provided by the State of Maine Board of Speech, Audiology and Hearing.
  • Instructs clients on use and care of hearing instruments, provides aural rehabilitation counseling, obtains functional gain measurements and aided speech discrimination scores, obtains real ear measurements and administers functional outcome measures as necessary.
  • Provides in-house hearing aid repair service.
  • Ensures that client and/or parent expresses an understanding of test results and exhibits agreement with action plans by providing counseling and determining and explaining the need for rehabilitation and/or medical management; makes appropriate related recommendations to clients, parents, physicians and other service providers.
  • Keeps audiological equipment in good working order and reduces downtime by maintaining calibration on instrumentation through regular equipment checks.
  • Provides appropriate documentation.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in in-service training, attending educational workshops and courses, reading, discussions with team members and participating in professional societies.
  • Ensures efficient, responsive client services by participating in the decisions regarding services, pricing and scheduling.
  • Participates in staff and team meetings by sharing and receiving information, identifying and discussing current and potential program and individual issues and offering suggestions.
  • Assists in maintaining a high level of service provision by determining annual goals and objectives for quality assurance; completes related data collection and reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
