As a Lead Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: results-driven individual with experience in the consumer collection industry. You will implement and maintain integrity in supervising, developing and managing staff in the respective state(s)'s Legal Department to achieve results for the Firm and its clients. You will assist the Managing Attorney for Wisconsin as the respective state subject-matter expert for the litigation practice and court rules, focusing on daily litigation, performance, and overall state practice oversight. You will be responsible for fostering a friendly and engaging office environment for ethical and practical development of staff in the respective state(s)'s office. At all times, you will navigate the ethical representation of clients while endeavoring to maintain and bolster the client and the Firm's engagements with the consumers, courts, and the legal communities. You will communicate with opposing counsel and pro se parties to resolve disputes and negotiate matters to an amicable resolution. You will draft and review legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents, document account/file activity in accordance with the Firm and client policies and procedures, and travel to various courts in the State to effectively handle all aspects of a case's litigation life cycle. You will research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations and formulate legal opinions for review by Firm Management. You will attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to remain current and well-informed of any local, state, or federal changes in the law, rules of court or court procedures. You will train, oversee, and mentor other Retail Attorneys in the execution of all legal pleadings/preparation for and arguing court proceedings, oversee and direct Contested Litigation support staff, proactively identify and resolve personnel issues, and collaborate with Firm Management as needed to evaluate production data and caseload production needs to proactively track state practice trends and goals. You will work collectively with Firm Management to evaluate data necessary to ensure state and department revenue goals and personal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met and exceeded. You will meet regularly with Firm Management to discuss, analyze state office needs, goals, and profitability in conjunction with the Firm Management. You will work collectively with Firm Management to evaluate data to proactively correct and mitigate any performance impediments. You will assist Firm Management with reviewing attorney work product audits with Retail Attorney during periodic performance reviews, participate on client calls as required, and ensure appropriate and timely handling of client and business demands. You will communicate with clients in a responsive manner to maintain and further develop client relationships and work collaboratively with the Firm Management in order to timely address Legal performance, corrective action, and client business demands (e.g., audits and directives). Other duties as assigned.
