Our Space Systems business designs and builds our extensive line of satellites, payloads, and their components, including spacecraft that have been selected to support NASA missions to the Moon and Mars and components used on the James Webb Space Telescope. MANUFACTURING Rocket Lab’s Manufacturing team are the builders and the doers who work with our advanced machinery across our global manufacturing sites to get our satellites, satellite components, and rockets out the door. They bring the designs of our engineers to life by using advanced manufacturing techniques like 3D printing to create our hardware and are responsible for delivering our projects and missions on time and on budget to our customers. LEAD ASSEMBLY, INTEGRATION & TEST TECHNICIAN Based out of Rocket Lab's Headquarters in Long Beach, California the Lead Avionics Manufacturing Technician primary objective is to support the team to working efficiently, safely and to the required quality standard, managing resources, constraints and tools. When daily support tasks are complete, it is expected any other time is invested in continuous improvement, staying competent on skills, focusing on improving the team’s capabilities and processes by such things as, training, waste elimination and process failure mode elimination activities. A Lead needs to remain technically competent on all processes with the department in order to be the primary technical trainer and provide input on process improvements, new product introduction and quality investigations with the technician’s perspective.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience within the aerospace industry.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the development, production, and integration of advanced space systems and satellite componentry. Components include Fluid Systems, Propulsion Systems, Reaction Wheels, Star Trackers, Deep Space Radios, Magnetorquers, Flight Computers and Solar Panel Arrays.
  • Proficiency in advanced tools, technical documentation, and industry-standard environments (e.g., ESD safe zones, clean rooms).
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620C and/or AC 43.13 standards.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior technicians.
  • Strong understanding of ISO9000 or AS9100 requirements.
  • HS Diploma or GED.

  • Communicate effectively to the team regarding daily tasks and department updates.
  • Lead an excellent quality culture with accurate policy adherence and effective root cause investigation and mitigation
  • Train all team members in technical skills and manufacturing processes.
  • Lead 5S, equipment care and calibration activities.
  • Pursue efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure safe work practice is adhered to in the responsible area, near misses are completed and a safety different culture is built.
