About The Position

The Lead Application Engineer – Centrifugal Compressor for the LNG market is responsible for leading the technical strategy of Baker Hughes’ offering in alignment with the project team and functions. This role serves as the main technical interface between the customer and Baker Hughes during the Inquiry To Order (ITO) phase. The key responsibility is translating customer needs, detailed in the RFQ (Request for Quotation), into the most competitive technical solution by leveraging the CC product portfolio and technology.

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or Physics
  • Have 3-5 years of relevant experience in Engineering, Application Engineering, Product Management, Technical Sales, Customer Service, or an equivalent technical role
  • Have fluency in English (spoken and written)
  • Have influence leadership skills and commercial acumen
  • Be willing to work on stretched deadlines with flexible time management
  • Be able to travel on short notice
  • Have exceptional verbal and non-verbal communication skills for preparing proposals, conducting meetings, answering sales/customer questions, and writing/explaining technical aspects with dedicated presentations

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, managing, and negotiating Baker Hughes’ technical proposals relevant to CC applications, and being responsible for estimating and ensuring accuracy of the budget associated with the proposed solution
  • Leading the definition of the technical strategy of the project, influencing the customer toward Baker Hughes solutions by accounting for competitors’ technical strengths and weaknesses versus Baker Hughes’ offering and capabilities
  • Preparing the most competitive technical proposal at first submission within the required timeline, including but not limited to designing and selecting compressors and auxiliary systems, using ITO tools and following ITO policies and procedures
  • Implementing innovative technology (NPD) where appropriate and continuously working with engineering functions to develop the best technical and cost-effective solution
  • Applying product and quality policies, and addressing and mitigating any risks as per Baker Hughes procedures
  • Leading technical negotiations, coordinating with supporting functions, and attending meetings and presentations with customers
  • Handing over the technical contract to the execution team in case of award
