About The Position

The Lead - Application Archiving will oversee the design, implementation, and management of application archiving strategies within Avera Health. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare data management, data lifecycle processes, and compliance standards related to patient records and medical information. This role requires a leader who can manage archiving systems, ensure data integrity, and facilitate seamless data retrieval while ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Minimum of three years experience in data management, IT infrastructure, or information governance, with at least one year in a leadership role focused on application archiving in healthcare settings.
  • Experience working with healthcare applications, including Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Expertise in application archiving platforms and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Application Archiving Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive application archiving strategy that aligns with organizational goals and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.). Ensure that patient data and application data are archived securely and efficiently.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work with cross-functional teams including IT, clinical staff, and legal departments to ensure archiving processes align with organizational needs. Collaborate with data governance teams to maintain consistent data quality and lifecycle management policies.
  • Training and Support: Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for staff on the use of archiving systems. Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting to end-users for application archiving-related issues.
  • System Design and Implementation: Oversee the design, implementation, and management of archiving systems across various clinical and business applications. Ensure the solution integrates smoothly with existing infrastructure and applications.
  • Data Integrity and Access Management: Monitor and manage the integrity of archived data to ensure it is complete, accurate, and accessible. Implement best practices for data retrieval, ensuring users can access archived information when needed without delay.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure all archiving processes comply with industry regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable healthcare standards. Work closely with Health Information Management, Compliance and Legal teams to ensure data privacy and security are maintained throughout the archiving lifecycle.
  • Disaster Recovery and Backup: Lead efforts to ensure archived data is included in the organization’s disaster recovery and business resilience plans. Oversee regular backups and ensure recovery procedures are in place and effective.
  • Performance Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of archiving processes and produce regular reports on system performance, data access times, and compliance status.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with emerging trends in data management, archiving technologies, and healthcare regulations. Propose and implement improvements to the archiving system to enhance efficiency, compliance, and user experience.
