About The Position

Epic Games is searching for a Lead Animator to join our team working on Fortnite, to develop Emote concepts and animation for our wide variety of IP partners and Epic Original Content. A successful candidate should have a great understanding of the fundamentals of animation and how they relate to acting, rhythm, and game animation. A strong understanding of the Unreal editor, including how to implement animations, is strongly desired.

Requirements

• You have an animation reel showing key-framed character and creature animations
• Strong experience with Maya and gameplay systems such as Unreal Engine
• Good instincts for realistic and stylized motions
• Strong communication and leadership skills and experience
• Related skills, such as modeling, skinning, rigging
• Experience working with mocap data
• Leadership Experience having shipped at least one title
• User-focused, passionate, solutions-focused, and innovative

Responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise/lead character-specific animations such as dances and emotes in Maya and Unreal, using our ART tools set
• Guide emotes from initial concept, through animation, and final implementation, in Unreal Engine
• Collaborate across various art disciplines here at Epic, as well as Vendor teams
• Lead the growing library of cosmetic animations/emotes offered to players, helping to shape and drive the style and feel of Fortnite’s animation
