About The Position

We are seeking a Lead Analytics Engineer to join our Data Platform team and help scale the delivery of clean, high-trust, and reusable data assets across Cohere Health. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of advanced data models, drive the standardization of our semantic layer, and elevate the quality, performance, and usability of data leveraged by analytics, product, and business stakeholders. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, analysts, and cross-functional partners to translate business logic into scalable models, implement data quality and testing standards, and ensure outputs are well-documented, trusted, and production-ready. You will also mentor Analytics Engineers and contribute to the maturity of our modeling practices and data platform architecture. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data modeling, engineering rigor, and business impact – and who is excited to shape how healthcare data is structured, governed, and used to drive value at scale.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or similar roles
  • Experience with EMR, claims, or healthcare-related data is required
  • Hands-on experience using AWS cloud services
  • Deep proficiency in Spark, SQL and dbt; strong understanding of data modeling principles (e.g., dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas)
  • Strong understanding of data lakehouse architectures (e.g., S3, Glue, EMR, Iceberg/Parquet formats) and how they support scalable analytics
  • Hands-on experience with version control, CI/CD, and data testing frameworks
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into scalable data solutions
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset; comfortable working across product, analytics, engineering, and business teams
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a STEM, analytics, or related discipline

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain analytics-ready datasets aligned with healthcare standards such as HL7, FHIR, X12, and HEDIS, ensuring compliance and interoperability across systems.

  • Lead the development and adoption of semantic layers, trusted metrics, and standardized KPIs across the organization
  • Partner with analysts, product managers, and engineers to translate complex business logic into governed, analysis-ready datasets
  • Promote the use of data lineage, observability, and validation frameworks to build trust and transparency in analytics workflows
  • Define and enforce data-contracts, schema standards, and modelling conventions that support governed, consistent analytics across the organization
  • Collaborate with Architects and Senior Engineers to align on architecture, optimize performance, and improve platform reliability
  • Drive team-wide improvements in tooling, automation, and workflow efficiency
  • Mentor and support other Analytics Engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and skill development
