About The Position

The Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (“CCBHC”) and Analytics Lead Data Scientist is a hybrid role delivering on reporting needs to the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center (“SEMHC”) and working with the Eskenazi Health Analytics Department to provide data scientist and large project overview. This position champions data-driven decision making and innovates how SEMHC and Eskenazi Health receive the information needed to serve our patient population. The Data Scientist has a mastery of the content and structure of the Epic data models and a subject matter expert on the functionality of Epic Cogito tools. This position will provide guidance on CCBHC quality measure definitions and ensuring all data needed to meet state regulations is accurate and available to report to the state. This position will be responsible for maintaining, and cross-training, the development of the daily state reporting for SEMHC, and for the continued validation and updates to our population health vendor(s). A successful candidate will enjoy writing SQL and other types of coding languages, be able to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to meet requests and enjoy troubleshooting to ensure data quality remains high.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, informatics, business, mathematics or a healthcare major from an accredited college or university; Graduate degree or advanced certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of analytics experience, including 2 years in clinical analytics
  • Current Epic certifications in Cogito Fundamentals, Cogito Tools Administration, Caboodle Data Model, and Clarity Data Model are required
  • Epic Caboodle Developer certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County.
  • Models Eskenazi Health values of P.R.I.D.E. (Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence)
  • Utilizes Epic Cogito Tools and other business intelligence tools to meet customer needs
  • Strategizes and implements Epic strategies to meet CCBHC quality measure technical specifications
  • Builds, maintains, and problem-solves webservices data sharing with State of Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction (“DMHA”)
  • Collaborates with the SEMHC senior leadership and quality team to ensure that CCBHC data collection and reporting from Epic meet required reporting deadlines
  • Prioritizes completion of SEMHC'S CCBHC-related Epic work tickets
  • Takes the lead in ensuring execution of all DMHA-mandated DARMHA updates
  • Adheres to Analytics departmental policies and procedures regarding peer reviews, validation, and movement of content from lower to production environments
  • Ensures the reporting security of users and access to reports is correct
  • Works with Application Teams to ensure system configuration allows reporting to meet business needs
  • Actively participates in departmental maintenance and cleanup of the reporting library and data quality
  • Reviews assigned Nova Notes and completes the required work by the established upgrade deadlines
  • Independently debugs problem queries or problem-solves complex reporting problems
  • Develops data models for business intelligence tools outside of Epic and/or within Epic's SlicerDicer tool
  • Maintains code for data going to population health analytics tools
  • Develops and/or implements cognitive computing and predictive models in Epic and other BI tools to meet operational needs
  • Validates data in reports by utilizing Epic and other software to verify what is returned in the results matches what is displayed to end users
  • Assists the ETL developer with Caboodle development
  • Assists the ETL developer with maintaining the SSIS database including the development of SSIS packages
  • Implements, supports, and assists with validation of Epic built cognitive computing models
  • Develops and maintains custom SlicerDicer filters that will increase usability for satisfying reporting requests
  • Provides support to Business Intelligence Developers and Data Analysts regarding coding issues including review of queries for improvements in efficiency
