About The Position

The primary responsibility of the logistics manager is to coordinate internal transfers to terminals and outbound shipments to internal and external customers while ensuring on-time deliveries meeting the predefined KPIs. Communicates directly and thoroughly with all department and cross-department managers. Manages relationships with 3rd-party raw material trucking vendors, ensuring compliance with agreements. This position is located in Kingwood, TX Administrative/ Operative: · Exemplifies MM safety values, drives culture forward through language and training · Oversees and coordinates all aggregates rail transfers and internal/external customer deliveries to maximize customer service and minimize cost · Acts as liaison between logistics and sales personnel · Builds relationships with company employees, vendors, and internal and external customers to ensure an efficiently functioning department · Identifies opportunities to improve rail loading and unloading productivity · Makes adjustments to shipment plan in case of contingencies · Analyzes data to monitor performance and plan improvements · Optimizes private/dedicated rail fleet to reduce/contain freight costs, working with counterparts in other districts to best utilize rail fleet · Responsible for regional logistics customer service and on-time delivery performance · Works with Accounting, as needed, to verify accuracy of freight billing and reconciliation · Manages and audits freight rates and mileages · Supports direct supervisor on contract negotiation with rail carriers · Budget follow-up including management and negotiation of accessorial fees with RRs · Manages information within the transportation management system · Assists in process/tools/training implementation · Creates reports as directed by management · Trains employees as needed · Ensures compliance with regulatory and company work rules and procedures including regional Browz compliance requirements · May assist with cement rail transfers as directed by management · Other duties as assigned Communication: · Relationship management with regional carriers (rail and yard trucks) to resolve disputes, problems, and ensure safe operations · Communication with plant operations · Point of contact with customers (internal/external) · Prepares and distributes information regarding customer service (on time delivery, truck & rail availability, etc.) · Coordinates notification of reportable incidents to internal customers and stakeholders as appropriate · Interacts with internal customers to meet service and information needs and resolve complaints. Working in conjunction with the customer service center and field personnel, is accountable for managing customer commitments through outbound communication of information

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5-7 years of experience in logistics (load planning and dispatch)
  • Background in Rail & Truck (Maritime desired)
  • SAP/PRS experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft
  • Ability to travel during the day and overnight if needed
  • Able to physically perform the essential functions for this job
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Proven customer service skills and logistics focus, demonstrated capacity to develop relationships, resolve issues, and negotiate as required
