Equifax is actively seeking a highly motivated Lead AI Engineer to architect the future of our technological infrastructure. This role transcends mere tool implementation; the incumbent will serve as the catalyst for an AI-First Software Engineering paradigm shift, transitioning from manual coding practices to the sophisticated orchestration of AI agents. The core mission is to significantly enhance development capacity, enabling the team to prioritize high-value innovation over manual, repetitive tasks. The successful candidate will operate at the vanguard of modern engineering, driving the transformation from manual coding to the command and control of AI agents . By leveraging Vibe coding methodologies in conjunction with AI-powered assistants such as Gemini and GitHub Copilot, the role will accelerate innovation across our highly scalable APIs, microservices, and PaaS/SaaS platforms. This position entails leading the design and deployment of advanced AI agents within the Google Cloud Platform, ensuring that the integration of AI tools culminates in secure, compliant, and standardized deployment pipelines that define our 'Golden Path' to production. This individual will function not only as an engineer but also as an architect, a mentor, and a principal driver of the team's technical vision for adopting cutting-edge, AI-driven software development. Individuals demonstrating a profound passion for emerging AI technologies and their application in enhancing Software Product engineering are strongly encouraged to apply. This role requires being in the office 3 days/week on Tues - Thurs. This position does not offer immigration sponsorship (current or future) including F-1 STEM OPT extension support.

Requirements

  • Visionary Leadership: A minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering, with a demonstrated capability to provide leadership through ambiguity and to effectively motivate cross-functional teams.
  • AI Specialization: At least 2 years of applying Generative AI (GenAI) to solve enterprise-level business problems and a minimum of 1 year of experience with agentic AI frameworks.
  • Cloud Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in GCP , Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD tools, and database knowledge.
  • Observability Mindset: Experience with AI-powered log analysis and troubleshooting using relevant tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and/or Java, along with a working knowledge of modern front-end frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Champion modern software development practices by proactively utilizing AI code-assist tools (e.g., Gemini code assists, GitHub Copilot, Claude code) to expedite development cycles, generate comprehensive documentation, and improve code quality, testing, and monitoring & observability protocols.
  • Lead AI Research & Innovation efforts to maintain a position at the forefront of the field. This includes identifying, prototyping, and integrating the latest foundational models, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) techniques, and agentic frameworks to address complex business challenges.
  • Collaborate strategically with product leaders, architects, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), and fellow engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Drive innovation and efficacy in our AI solutions through close collaboration, ensuring a successful transition from the traditional Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to an "AI Development Life Cycle" (AI DLC).
  • Maintain a data- and metrics-driven approach with a stringent focus on optimizing and creating highly efficient solutions, and quantifying the business and customer impact of those solutions.
  • Engage in security and compliance approval processes, ensuring a "secure-by-design" methodology and adherence to Equifax’s best practices for security and compliance.
  • Propose architectural and design recommendations for Production Scale on GCP: Engineer and operate our AI systems within a scalable, reliable production environment on the Google Cloud Platform. Ensure rigorous compliance with EFX secure software development guidelines and best practices.
  • Collaborate with architects, SRE leads, and other technical leadership on strategic technical direction, guidelines, and best practices.
