About The Position

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Lead APP Community Based Practices. The Rush Community-Based Practices comprises the five School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) located inside of public schools on Chicago's West Side and South Side and the Adolescent Family Center, a health center for young people on the Rush University Medical Center campus. Housed in the Office of Community Health Equity and Engagement, these six clinics increase access to vital preventive, primary and mental health services that keep young people healthy and on track for successful adulthood.

Requirements

  • Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse or as a Physician Assistant/Associate
  • Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing practice with clinical specialty appropriate to position or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program
  • Current certification by American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner (AANP) or current certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Maintains State of Illinois and Federal DEA license
  • Must maintain Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), Rush Oak Park Hospital (ROPH), and Rush Copley Medical Center (RCMC) clinical privileges, as applicable
  • CPR certification
  • Excellent communicator
  • Experience treating patients 0-25 years of age
  • Experience providing reproductive healthcare

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in people management
  • 5+ years experience as APP
  • Experience in Community Health settings (FQHC, SBHC) preferred. Relevant RN experience may be considered
  • APRN Candidates with Family or Pediatric NP certification

Responsibilities

  • Provider scheduling and related clinic staffing decisions
  • Provider evaluation, performance management, and team development
  • Recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of new APPs
  • Ensure clinical practices align with all state regulatory and grant requirements
  • Evaluate and optimize provider quality, billing, and coding
  • Support team safety through emergency response as member of larger management team
  • Provide coaching and expertise on clinical quality and safety
