About The Position

Wipro Limited is a leading technology services and consulting company focused on building innovative solutions that address clients' most complex digital transformation needs. We are looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join our team in O'Fallon, Missouri. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and in-depth knowledge in PostgreSQL administration tasks, particularly with EDB Postgres Distributed. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, leading architectural design, and ensuring compliance with Wipro's standards.

Requirements

• Must have relevant experience and in-depth knowledge in PostgreSQL administration tasks
• Experience with EDB Postgres Distributed
• Knowledge of Oracle DBA
• Experience with database backups and troubleshooting failures
• Experience with performance tuning techniques
• Hands-on knowledge in Oracle to Postgres DB Migration
• Knowledge of NOSQL databases
• Experience with latest versions PostgreSQL EDB versions

• Any other DBA Skills

Responsibilities

• Perform installations and upgrades of PostgreSQL (Preferably PPAS 9.4+)
• Plan and perform DB Patching.
• Knowledge of Database backups / Troubleshoot failures, query execution plans, performance tuning techniques
• Define maintenance plans.
• Configure / Troubleshoot Replication (BSR / xDB SMR / xDB MMR)
• Set up disaster recovery
• Perform Fail-over and Fail-backs
• Hands-on knowledge in Oracle to Postgres DB Migration
• Monitor servers through PEM
• Capacity planning
• Script database changes
• Knowledge of NOSQL databases
• Experience with latest versions PostgreSQL EDB versions
• User Administration and Security
• Provide adequate support in architecture planning, migration & installation for new projects
• Lead the structural/ architectural design of a platform/ middleware/ database/ back up
• Conduct technology capacity planning by reviewing the current and future requirements
• Utilize and leverage the new features of all underlying technologies
• Strategize & implement disaster recovery plans and create and implement backup and recovery plans
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the tower
• Plan for and manage upgradations, migration, maintenance, backup, installation and configuration functions
• Review the technical performance of own tower and deploy ways to improve efficiency
• Develop shift roster for the team
• Create and update SOPs, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, daily test plans, data architecture guidance
• Provide weekly status reports to the client leadership team
• Leverage technology to develop Service Improvement Plan (SIP) through automation and other initiatives
• Forecast talent requirements as per the current and future business needs
• Hire adequate and right resources for the team
• Train direct reportees to make right recruitment and selection decisions
• Ensure 100% compliance to Wipro's standards of adequate onboarding and training for team members
• Build an internal talent pool of HiPos and ensure their career progression within the organization
• Set goals for direct reportees, conduct timely performance reviews and appraisals
• Lead and drive engagement initiatives for the team
• Track team satisfaction scores and identify initiatives to build engagement within the team
