The Lead Additive Manufacturing Specialist at the Auburn, Alabama site is a manufacturing engineering role supporting our high-volume production of metal additively manufactured parts. In this role you will be responsible for departmental operations planning/execution, focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of manufacturing engineering support experience)
  • At least an additional 3 years of manufacturing engineering support experience
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Therefore, employment will be contingent upon the ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Own specific manufacturing router processes as agreed upon with people leader
  • Keep process documentation (planning) updated and relevant
  • Understand process variation and how to control it (six sigma)
  • Identify and execute on opportunities to drive waste out of a process (lean)
  • Work to change processes if appropriate as requested by associates, the quality organization, or other source
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy
  • Utilize knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; and be aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Use judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles
  • Use technical experience and analytical thinking
  • Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions
