About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead A&P Mechanic to guide a team of technicians dedicated to maintaining our fleet of Cessna and Piper training aircraft. In this hands-on leadership role, you will be responsible for scheduling maintenance, mentoring junior mechanics, and ensuring the highest levels of safety and operational readiness. The ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and has a strong background in general aviation maintenance.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate with no violations.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience as an A&P Mechanic.
  • Demonstrated experience or aptitude for leading teams, scheduling work, or mentoring junior technicians.
  • Must have a current driver’s license and the ability to pass a 10-year FBI background check.
  • Must possess a minimum tool list required to perform maintenance tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct maintenance experience on Cessna 172, Piper Archer, and/or Piper Seminole aircraft.
  • Previous experience in a lead role or within a flight school/Part 141 maintenance environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and assign daily maintenance tasks to ensure efficient workflow and minimize aircraft downtime.
  • Serve as the primary maintenance point of contact on your shift, communicating aircraft status, delays, and needs to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Assist in the hands-on training, development, and mentoring of newly assigned mechanics.
  • Maintain and audit maintenance records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Make recommendations for solutions to recurring maintenance issues.
  • Perform and oversee scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Acron Aviation’s training fleet, including Cessna 172s, Piper Archers, and Piper Seminoles.
  • Conduct maintenance on all aircraft systems, including piston engines, propellers, airframes, flight controls, landing gear, and troubleshooting systems.
  • Ensure all maintenance is performed and documented in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and manufacturers’ technical data.
  • Practice and enforce good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness/prevention, and safety protocols at all times.
  • Maintain hand and special tools in a safe and serviceable condition.
