About The Position

As the Senior Structural Engineer, you will lead the engineering team and design of agricultural grain storage, handling and conditioning equipment with a focus on large, complex structures multiple stories tall, with walkways, electrical/ mechanical systems, and complex multi-story tall products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 5+ years of structural steel design; experience in agricultural or industrial projects is preferred; or recent college graduate with 1 year of experience within a similar industry.
  • PE certification is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of structural analysis and structural steel design: AISC 360, AISC 341.
  • Knowledge of codes including: International Building Code, ASCE 7, OSHA 1910.
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, with the ability to complete projects on time.
  • Knowledge and previous training in 3D structural analysis software, preferably RISA.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Able to read/write/speak English fluently; with strong presentation and excellent verbal/written skills.
  • Ability to engage with other team members, consultants, and others to meet agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Organized, good at setting reasonable yet aggressive project plans and timelines.
  • Innovative and creative in thought processes, desire to build a career by creating an impact in the role.
  • Can work independently with a high level of integrity and is self-directed with a high customer focus.
  • Can manage ambiguity and changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing code and standards, engineering formulas, skills and experience.
  • Layout and detail portions of projects using schematic layout by project lead engineer.
  • Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Detailers.
  • Review, analyze and apply modeling results to code conformance requirements.
  • Utilize a gated design process while keeping a master project list to communicate progress.
  • Create and develop new structural designs that will meet or exceed customer and regulatory needs.
  • Coordinate and support prototype construction and validate the product to ensure it meets design and cost specifications.
  • Communicate with the internal manufacturing, supply, and sales teams to ensure all design project goals and deliverables are achieved.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines on customer projects.
  • Provide onsite or in field support to customers and sales team with product presentations, technical service and installation techniques.
  • Direct and support the activities for product documentation, manuals, sales presentations/tools and technical literature.
  • Support and participate in the product training for sales and customer service.
