About The Position

The Lead IT Analyst / Programmer provides tactical and operational leadership for the Peri-Operative & Hospital Operations IT application portfolio, supporting over 80 applications across Surgery, Anesthesia, Sterile Processing, Food Services, and other clinical and operational departments across the Mayo Clinic enterprise. This role is responsible for day-to-day service delivery, execution of project work, and operational stability. The position works in close partnership with IT leadership and collaborates with the team’s IT Architect to ensure solutions and operations align with enterprise standards and architectural direction. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship/ we will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience including 3 years’ of demonstrated leadership experience; Or, Associates degree and 9 years’ experience including 3 years’ demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience leading teams supporting vended healthcare technology solutions.
  • Experience coordinating or leading vended application teams, including incident and delivery management.
  • Experience working with Agile teams and delivery practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting peri-operative, hospital operations, or other clinical systems.
  • Programming, scripting, or API and integration experience.
  • Experience working in SLA-driven support environments.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver predictable outcomes.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT security and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operational support activities across a large and complex application portfolio.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for operational and delivery issues within the team.
  • Manage incident response, service restoration, and adherence to Service Level Agreements.
  • Monitor application health, incident trends, and operational risk and drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and support procedures.
  • Perform resource forecasting and capacity planning to balance support, project delivery, and maintenance work.
  • Translate priorities into actionable delivery plans aligned with available capacity.
  • Estimate project effort and timelines and track milestones, dependencies, risks, and progress.
  • Provide regular status updates to IT leadership and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate project and work intake and ensure requests are clearly defined and ready for execution.
  • Consult with clinical and administrative partners to clarify requirements and expectations.
  • Maintain and prioritize the team backlog based on operational urgency and clinical impact.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, scrum, and backlog refinement ceremonies.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to analysts and programmers.
  • Lead root cause analysis for high-impact or recurring issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Collaborate with the IT Architect, infrastructure, security, and vendor partners to deliver solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
