The Licensed Clinical Social Worker/R (LCSW) shall be accountable for acting and practicing within the scope of a LCSW/R as defined by the New York State Education Department and in accordance with approved scope of practice and established protocols. Adheres to the NASW Code of Ethics. The LCSW/R will conduct social worker services at Samaritan Medical Center and its affiliated outpatient programs, within the psychiatric specialty area of children, adolescent and/or adult patients. The LCSW/R performs a wide variety of clinical and social work services for assigned client groups, such as children, having complex social and adjustment problems. Provides skill building interventions to help patients cope with their social situations and relationships. Works as part of an interdisciplinary treatment teams with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, psychologists and nurse practitioners. Performance of tasks requires training and experience in diagnosis, human development, family and societal dynamics. Interviews patients, and their families if necessary, to obtain factual background information about the patient. Summarizes information on the social and family background of patients and the history of the illness or disability to provide a basis for treatment planning; provides clinical case support and referrals to community resources as needed.
