About The Position

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service. Overview We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Layup Support Technician. This role will manage lamination work cell set up tasks, such as staging prepreg kits, preparing molds, replenishing consumables, maintaining clean work centers / hardware, and complete pre-lamination duties. This role enables composite hand layup technicians to focus exclusively on lamination workmanship, supporting takt time and part quality. Shift Schedules below: 1 st shift - Monday – Thursday: 7AM- 5:30PM 2 nd shift- Monday - Thursday: 5:30PM - 4:00AM 3 rd shift -Friday - Sunday: 6AM - 6:30PM

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Experience working in fast-paced, time sensitive environments
  • Demonstrated abilities following standardized work instructions, technical requirements, and executing standard processes.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
  • Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday.
  • Lifting of 50 lbs. or less
  • Must wear PPE when . Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materials and able to become certified to wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
  • Ability to become forklift, crane, or equipment certified

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a high-volume production environment that relies on a well-defined process to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S environments.

Responsibilities

  • Stage all materials for next-part build kit, tooling, hardware, and aids (including ports, TCs, pins, consumables, ect ).
  • Return empty bins / notify support teams of replenishment demand, if applicable restock point-of-use locations
  • Complete “Pre-Lamination Step” for production runs (kit thawing. Mold identification, laser set up)
  • Check material in / out of the freezer
  • Submit work stoppages (if applicable)
  • Submit redlined (if applicable)
  • Wipe down equipment and workstations between shifts or batches
  • Maintain 4S+S and organization
  • Maintain consumable min/max levels
  • Attend daily standups
  • Respond quickly to technician requests (tools, parts, etc.)
  • Strive to continually improve quality, 5S, and productivity within areas of responsibility, knowledge, skills and experience. Demonstration through participation of FMDS, shop cleanings, internal audits, e tc.
