About The Position

In this position... The Layout Supervisor will provide leadership for a team of layout engineers that will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of powertrain plant layouts, delivery and installation of production systems and production support systems. Your team will work with the various Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planning and Logistics, and various Supplier teams to develop a facility plan. Successful candidates will have a proven record of leadership, facility launch experience and layout development supporting overall plant production, material flow and pedestrian safety. What you'll do... Manage resources accountable for the creation and maintenance of plant layouts, delivery and installation of production systems and production support systems through power-on and delivery of material handling systems. Support implementation of Siemens virtual engineering tools and work with the GVPE team to establish a seamless translation and use of Line Designer tool. Identify & Implement CAD tools for layouts. Develop plan to utilize 3D CAD for layouts including equipment and facilities. Develop and maintain Bill of Process individual component and support area layouts based upon Production Engineering Bill of Process, machine and equipment detailed requirements and in keeping with the Ford Production System Strategy. Develop Layouts supporting overall Plant Production, Material Flow Strategy and Pedestrian Safety Principles and Guidelines (FAS 08-079). Provide material flow and pedestrian safety analysis for individuals commodity production lines and for overall Plant Layout. Incorporate shipping/receiving dock requirements, PMHV charging equipment and storage space requirements into the plant (as developed in conjunction with PTME Material Handling Engineering and productivity simulation data). Liaison with Ford Corporate Fire Protection to ensure adequate fire protection for operations to be compliant with AON Insurance Underwriters. Obtain Architectural drawings and Certified Stamped drawings as required for any non-Ford Land delivered, structural, fire protection and coordinate validation testing. Lead simultaneous engineering meetings with Tier I suppliers to orchestrate equipment installation during program reviews with all interested parties. Develop plant / department layouts in keeping with Component Bill of Process & Ford Production System concepts supporting all new model programs per the Layout Principles Procedure PTP02-107ME. Develop and maintain layout standards for Maintenance and Repair areas per the Layout Principles Procedure PTP02-107ME. This includes but is not limited to the following crib types: PTP02-107ME-AM4 Central Maintenance PTP02-107ME-AP5 Assembly PM/ Repair PTP02-107ME-AM9 Machining PM/ Repair (Machining) PTP02-107ME-AP1 Line-Side Machining Maintenance Areas PTP02-107ME-AL22 Non-Production Store PTP02-107ME-AM10 Industrial Garage PTP02-107ME-AL35 Maintenance Fluids Area

Requirements

  • 10+ years prior experience with automotive manufacturing facility layout engineering.
  • Ability to demonstrate you can lead a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to present, persuade, and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient level knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • 3D CAD abilities, and ability to read 2D blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of driving change and influencing engineering decisions, with or without authority.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Travel may be required from 25% - up to 80% of time.
  • The lower end means working from home base (Dearborn) with minimum travel to Supplier/Vendors, or out of state (of Michigan) Plants/Facilities.
  • The higher end of travel means supporting implementation/launch teams on site at the out of state (of Michigan) Plants/Suppliers.
