Job Description: We are seeking a Layout Designer II who thrives in a collaborative team environment. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting engineering efforts related to manufacturing, process development, and New Product Introduction (NPI) for semiconductor devices and assemblies. Your responsibilities will include working alongside Engineers to assist with drafting, documentation, process development, manufacturing support, materials analysis and definition, and process optimization. This hands-on position focuses on chip and wire assemblies for semiconductor and MMIC packages. You will provide vital support to existing manufacturing processes, with a particular emphasis on NPI prototypes.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics related fields (or equivalent certifications)
  • 2-3 years of experience
  • Coursework that covers college level mathematics and introductory courses in science/engineering principles
  • Proficient in drafting and the use of AutoCAD or SolidWorks applications and with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong inspection and measurement abilities
  • Practical verbal and written communication skills (English) can clearly present and discuss manufacturing information to technical and non-technical team members
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail while effectively managing multiple tasks and projects, staying well organized, and adapting quickly to a fast-paced environment with a steep learning curve
  • Have a willingness to continuously learn in a mentally challenging environment
  • Work and communicate effectively in a team environment
  • This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics related fields
  • 3D modeling experience
  • Machine Shop experience
  • Familiarity with statistical methods such as SPC, Gage R&R, DOE, 5 Why’s, 6 Sigma, etc.
  • Chip and wire assembly experience within a semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Experience with MIL-PRF-19500 & / or MIL-PRF-38534 product manufacture

Responsibilities

  • Design tools, dies, jigs, or fixtures for use in manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate tool drawing designs by measuring drawing dimensions and comparing with original specifications for form and function using engineering skills
  • Prepare parts sketches and create work orders and purchase requests to be furnished by outside contractors
  • Ensure drawings are produced in accordance with applicable drafting codes and standards
  • Devise, fabricate, or assemble new or modified mechanical components for products
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to ensure that designs meet project specifications and requirements
  • Assist with the modification and control of procedures and documents
