This position is located in our Landscape Services division which offers professional tree care and landscaping services at market rates with the profits supporting other Tree Trust programs including green industry skills and employment-readiness training to youth and young adults, and Twin Cities community urban canopy restoration initiatives. From simple projects to complex designs, Landscape Services has the experience to complete tree and landscape projects to the highest standards – on time and on budget. The Lawn Maintenance Supervisor leads a crew in the daily operations including commercial and residential property maintenance, snow removal, quality control, and safety.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver license and a clean driving record as determined by our insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal & motor vehicle background check.
  • Must possess and maintain MN DOT medical certificate within fifteen (15) days of hire.
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year experience with property lawn care.
  • Must have experience operating power equipment including riding mower, push mower, line trimmer, backpack blower and debris loader.
  • Must possess and maintain chemical applicators license with endorsements A, E, and J within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude and work well within a team.
  • Must be able to give work direction and work well under pressure within a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Must be teachable, trainable and project a proactive attitude-always looking for the next way to find solutions.
  • Must have strong communication skills and be an effective listener.
  • Must be able to provide excellent customer service.
  • Must have the ability to frequently climb, bend, stoop, twist and frequently lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be reliable, possess a positive attitude and be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to perform work outdoors including weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Education or experience in nursery, turf grasses, or horticulture preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily preparation of trucks, equipment, and inventory.
  • Report on time to prepare and review the work schedule with the Landscape Services General Manager.
  • Supervise and ensure that the oil, fluids, tire pressure, proper trailer connection, and all lights are in working order.
  • Supervise and perform routine maintenance on equipment before and during operation as necessary.
  • Supervise & help load all tools, gasoline, and other necessary equipment/materials.
  • Make sure all equipment is secured safely.
  • Give instruction to the lawn maintenance technicians in accurately performing and managing landscape and maintenance tasks on client’s property including all aspects of lawn maintenance.
  • Ensure that work is implemented efficiently and according to contract specifications.
  • Provide management and labor associated with the maintenance of yards and garden beds, including cleanouts.
  • Perform all tasks of operations including but not limited to: mowing, line trimming, leaf pickup, shrub pruning, lawn edging, aerating, weeding, etc.
  • Provide trainings including safety, equipment use, technique, etc.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to direct reports for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the proper use of safety equipment & personal protective equipment.
  • Communicate with clients, as needed, regarding schedule, special projects, etc.
  • Proactively address any questions or concerns with clients professionally.
  • Communicate client questions & concerns to the Landscape Services General Manager, as needed.
  • Perform daily duties.
  • Accurately record hours of each team member in the Landscape Management Network (LMN) system.
  • Submit all job site reports and inventory all materials used on the job at the end of each shift.
  • Accurately code and submit all receipts.
  • Review and prepare for the next day’s job.
  • Unload/load equipment & material, clean out truck/trailer by removing trash, debris, etc.
  • Wash all dirty equipment (including mower decks) and return to storage location.
  • Report all damaged or broken equipment to [email protected].
  • Assist the general manager in route development and scheduling.
  • Strictly adhere to Tree Trust’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform snow removal during winter months by utilizing a plow, snow blower and snow shovel on commercial and residential properties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
