About The Position

The position involves performing basic diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned turf equipment. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that turf equipment is functioning properly and will engage in ongoing training to develop their skills and knowledge in the field.

Requirements

• Lawn and Garden Equipment Technical Experience preferred
• Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
• Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of turf equipment
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
• Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions
• Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
• Basic Service Technician Certification preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
• Valid driver’s license required along with a good driving record
• Must maintain a good driving record in compliance with company Motor Vehicle Records criteria throughout employment
• Forklift license preferred
• Must have reliable attendance
• Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

• Basic Service Technician Certification preferred
• Forklift license preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on turf equipment
• Participates in Service EDUCATE Training Programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
• Reviews and explains any maintenance, repairs, or other service concerns directly with the customer and/or documents on work order
• Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
• Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
• Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
• Accounts for all time and all material used in performing assigned duties
