About The Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with the planning and organization of library programs for detainees. Responsible for supervision of detainees while accessing law library services. Adhere to and enforce library policies and programs. Provide readers’ advisory services on basis of knowledge of current reviews and bibliographies. Select, acquire and organize library materials for convenient access. Review requests, and select books and other library materials according to mental state, educational background, and special needs of inmates. Assemble book reviews for institution’s bulletins or newspapers, and circulate reviews among inmates. Provide disabled or bedridden detainees with reading aids, such as prism glasses, page turners, book stands, audiobooks, or phonograph records. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as determined by management. Required Knowledge Skills/Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent Certification as a detention/corrections officer and six (6) months related experience required At least two years related experience required.
