About The Position

The New York State Senate is seeking an experienced law librarian to coordinate and deliver reference services in the NYS Legislative Library. The Legislative Library serves the research and information needs of the NYS Senate, the NYS Assembly, and legislative staff. In this dynamic role, you will provide professional library services by performing legislative reference work, including providing legal research assistance to legislators and staff, utilizing the library's print and electronic resources. You will assist library visitors on a ready reference basis by locating materials, answering questions, and assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of library materials. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

Requirements

• A law degree from an accredited law school.
• A master's degree in library science or information science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution.
• Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Strong customer service skills.
• The flexibility and willingness to learn in a changing environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a law library or library information center with a significant legal collection.
• Familiarity with Westlaw, Lexis, and HeinOnline.
