Requirements

High School diploma or equivalency
Completion of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course (BLET)
Valid NC Driver’s License

Responsibilities

Performs law enforcement duties to ensure airport security in Airfield Operations Area, remote parking lots and extended jurisdictions of airport property.
Patrols airports campus in vehicles or on foot.
Checks doors and windows and inspects security doors, gates, and other areas.
Responds to calls for assistance, complaints, suspicious activity, disputes and loud and disruptive behavior.
Responds to TSA screening staff and makes determinations whether to detain or charge suspicious persons.
Prepares non-transferrable item reports.
Investigates traffic accidents, issues traffic citations, and directs traffic.
Participates in emergency operation activities.
Operates radar equipment to apprehend speeders and slow down traffic.
Apprehends and processes criminal suspects.
Works with RDU Airport Fire-Rescue and Emergency Medical Technicians to provide medical care or crowd control services to sick or injured patients.
Provides a chain of custody if a body needs to be removed from RDU Airport.
