Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalency
  • Completion of the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course (BLET)
  • Valid NC Driver’s License

  • 1 or more years of experience in as a sworn Law Enforcement Officer

Responsibilities

  • Performs law enforcement duties to ensure airport security in Airfield Operations Area, remote parking lots and extended jurisdictions of airport property.
  • Patrols airports campus in vehicles or on foot.
  • Checks doors and windows and inspects security doors, gates, and other areas.
  • Responds to calls for assistance, complaints, suspicious activity, disputes and loud and disruptive behavior.
  • Responds to TSA screening staff and makes determinations whether to detain or charge suspicious persons.
  • Prepares non-transferrable item reports.
  • Investigates traffic accidents, issues traffic citations, and directs traffic.
  • Participates in emergency operation activities.
  • Operates radar equipment to apprehend speeders and slow down traffic.
  • Apprehends and processes criminal suspects.
  • Works with RDU Airport Fire-Rescue and Emergency Medical Technicians to provide medical care or crowd control services to sick or injured patients.
  • Provides a chain of custody if a body needs to be removed from RDU Airport.
