The Opportunity We are seeking a Law Clerk to join our Firm. This position will be based onsite in our Boston office. Within this position, you will work with the Managing Law Clerk team to provide information and assistance to attorneys, legal assistants and support staff. You will serve and file legal papers, perform data entry and research, and manage records. Files paper and electronic legal filings in state and federal courts. Processes litigation case files using file management system. Updates litigation support databases. Searches state and federal court dockets. Obtains copies of decisions/orders rendered by courts. Obtains copies of documents previously filed in courts. Provides administrative support to litigation-related practice areas. Provides information and answers questions for all legal and non-legal staff. Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others. Manages firm resources responsibly. Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Ability to obtain job-related certification, including driver's license and notary public
  • Strong research skills and proficiency in using various research tools, including the Internet, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER and other court-related websites
  • Ability to read, interpret and/or follow instructions
  • Ability to sit or stand at work station for extended periods of time
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrates close attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to navigate various electronic databases
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of one year related experience
