About The Position

State Universities Retirement System (SURS) is seeking to hire a 1L or 2L Law student to work as a summer law clerk in support of the SURS Legal Department. This position requires in-person work that will be based in the Champaign, IL SURS office. Some hybrid days may be negotiable. The clerk will work closely with the SURS Legal team and will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal matters relating to various aspects of pension benefit administration, investments, contracts, Freedom of Information Act requests, QILDROs, probate matters, administrative law procedures, Open Meetings Act compliance, and other areas that impact our system. Weekly schedule and start/end dates are negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Assist SURS Legal Department Attorneys and Staff by performing legal research, drafting memos and completing other legal tasks as assigned.
