About The Position

Position Overview The Bassett Firm is seeking a motivated law student to join our dynamic civil litigation team as a Law Clerk. This is an exceptional opportunity for a law student or pre-law school student to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced legal environment, working closely with experienced attorneys and developing critical legal skills.

Requirements

  • Law Clerk: Currently enrolled in law school
  • Law Clerk: Completed first-year legal writing course(s)
  • Law Clerk: Bachelor's degree
  • Legal Intern: Currently enrolled in college or a college graduate preparing for the LSAT
  • Legal Intern: Strong interest in our area of practice
  • Resident of Texas or Oklahoma
  • Strong academic performance
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities
  • Proficiency in legal research tools
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaborative skills
  • Complete Culture Index Survey (required)
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Texas or Oklahoma
  • Provide proof of school requirements

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on complex litigation matters
  • Prepare detailed legal memoranda and research reports
  • Draft preliminary legal documents, including pleadings and discovery responses
  • Assist in preparing CLE papers and blog content for the firm
  • Assist in gathering and organizing case facts
  • Conduct preliminary investigations, including: Social media and public records research Gathering preliminary case information
  • Monitoring and tracking case-related documentation
  • Perform background investigations and gathering information
  • Support attorneys in case preparation and documentation
  • Track and manage billable hours accurately
  • Organize and manage workflow and email communications
  • Manage firm-related administrative tasks
  • Schedule meetings and court-related appointments
  • Submit check requests and reimbursements
  • Assist with client intake processes
  • Maintain and update case management systems
  • Monitor and submit Public Information Act (PIA) requests
  • Call courts for case status updates
  • Assist in preparing deposition notices
  • Support attorneys in client communication and case management
  • Contribute to firm blog and marketing materials
  • Assist in preparing internal presentations
  • Support firm's professional development initiatives
