About The Position

Leidos is looking for a Law Clerk II to join our Washington, DC team. Primary Responsibilities: Works under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor. Performs simple to moderately complex legal research for the trial staff. Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, memoranda of law, etc. Reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation. Prepares Table of Contents and Table of Authorities Perform Bluebooking and cite checking of briefs. Ability to conduct research in applicable statutory, regulatory, and case law. Demonstrated ability to discern the relevant issues in complex fact patterns.

Requirements

  • Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least two (2) years of study or, seven (7) years of legal training or experience may be substituted.
  • Additionally, must have at least two (2) years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order related projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience doing document review, particularly privilege review and second level responsiveness checks.
  • Experience drafting discovery requests, responses, and correspondence.
  • Experience with Bluebooking, Cite checking, creating Tables of Contents/Authorities is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with e-discovery tools including Relativity, valued.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft suite, including Excel and Word, as well as Adobe Acrobat is essential.
  • Strong analytic, organizational, legal research and writing skills are preferred.
  • Trial support experience helpful.
