About The Position

The Law Career Services Program Manager serves as an integral part of the Career Services Office ( CSO ) under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Career Services. The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing interview programs, maintaining the school’s online job board, and conducting employer outreach to increase job posting, recruitment, and hiring activity for students and alumni.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in recruiting, human resources, career services, or other related field (e.g., law firm administration, business development, corporate recruitment).
  • Ability to positively represent Chapman University and Chapman University Fowler School of Law.
  • Ability to proactively market the law school, students, and alumni to attorneys, firms, corporations, government agencies, the judiciary, public interest organizations, and other potential employers.
  • Proven ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database software, preferably of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Technical ability to learn and use enterprise software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation and public speaking skills, decision-making ability, and interpersonal skills to interact, communicate, and persuade diverse groups and individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills to interact with students, graduates, staff, faculty, and employers.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; experience in interpreting data and using information to guide informed decision-making.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret laws, policies, and procedures, provide appropriate and accurate guidance, and ensure compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to prioritize multiple and competing demands and complete them in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and use discretion in matters pertaining to all aspects of office administration and student/alumni communication.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy, maintain confidentiality, and follow FERPA regulations.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evening hours, as needed.
  • Ability to travel locally to conduct employer outreach in the Southern California legal community and travel more extensively on occasion, as require by the position.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and run Recruiting Programs (held twice a year consisting of on-campus interviews and resume collection), including employer recruitment and registration, application material assembly and distribution, interview scheduling, interview hosting, event setup, and post-event follow-up.
  • Co-present at student information sessions covering Recruiting Program application process and policies.
  • Conduct individual student advising sessions to explain Recruiting Program application process.
  • Market the law school and its students to prospective employers.
  • Explain Recruiting Program logistics to employers via email, phone, and Zoom.
  • Represent the law school at on-campus and off-campus events.
  • Recruit new employers to participate in the Recruiting Program or post to online job board (Symplicity).
  • Actively seek out employment opportunities for students and alumni, including periodic mass employer outreach, communication with alumni and other employers, and review of online sources for job opportunities.
  • Communicate with employers regarding Symplicity and answer questions regarding platform and recruiting avenues with the law school.
  • Oversee mock interview programs, including correspondence with students and employer partners.
  • Manage Resume Book production (twice a year) and manage employer communications regarding Resume Book.
  • Run, edit, and manage employer, student, and alumni reports on Symplicity.
  • Review and finalize weekly e-newsletter for students.
  • Respond to emails received in the department inbox.
  • Draft event marketing materials and social media posts.
  • Collaborate with the team to execute programming and events.
  • Promote job opportunities, networking events, and other items of interest via email to students.
  • Maintain and update employer database on Symplicity and create employer outreach campaigns.
  • Review and approve job postings on Symplicity.
  • Support the CSO in collecting and inputting confidential graduate employment data.
  • Maintain student and employer databases.
  • Run, edit, and manage employer, student, and alumni reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
