About The Position

The Career Advisor and Data Specialist will support the Career Development Office's mission to maximize job placement among law students and graduates. This role combines legal career advising with data management and analysis to drive strategic decision-making, enhance employer engagement, and improve student employment outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3 years of professional experience in a law school career development office, law recruitment, law practice, or law-related environment.
  • Post-college law degree (JD, LLM, or PhD) and admission to any state bar are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with various constituents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to learn and use software platforms like Symplicity and Flo Recruit.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in other professional recruitment or higher education is preferred.
  • Technical writing and editing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel and advise law students and graduates on resumes, cover letters, job search strategies, and professional networking.
  • Assist students and graduates with networking and employer introductions when appropriate.
  • Stay updated on best practices in legal career advising and legal market hiring trends.
  • Keep records of career advising appointments.
  • Collect and analyze employment outcomes data to identify trends related to graduate success and job placement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing employment data findings.
  • Maintain and grow the employer database through regular updates and communications.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and growth of the alumni database and engage with alumni.
  • Track student participation in career fairs and analyze recruitment program effectiveness.
  • Research new sources of job postings and update job placement resources.
