About The Position

The Laundry Worker position at the Phoenix VA Health Care System involves providing essential laundry services to various facilities within the Department of Veterans Affairs. The incumbent will be responsible for processing and distributing linen orders, handling soiled linen, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the laundry unit. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to perform various tasks related to laundry processing in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Experience in handling laundry and maintaining cleanliness in a work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, classify, and weigh soiled linen.
  • Fold, count, bundle, and stack rough dry linen and special items.
  • Feed linen into the flatwork ironer and receive, count, and stack ironed linen.
  • Transport washed linens to the flatwork ironer or dryers using a hoist and overhead monorail system.
  • Load and unload dryers utilizing overhead monorail and carts.
  • Collect and consolidate textile items into set quantities.
  • Launder specialty items separately for each facility.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and equipment.
  • Participate in yearly linen inventories and perform other related duties as assigned.
