Uses flatwork iron to press applicable items, excluding sheets and garments.
Feeds items into flatwork ironer and keeps pace with its speed.
Recognizes different types of fabrics: synthetic, silk, wool, and cotton.
Sorts laundry by the washability of the fabrics.
Assesses linen to ensure standards for further processing are met.
Keeps work area neat and orderly at all times.
Carries out specific tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Shakes out tangled, semi-dry items.
Adheres to all safety warning signs and uses appropriate lifting mechanics when lifting heavy items.
Makes note of any fire/safety hazards identified during shift and notifies supervisor.
Performs duties having a sequence of several related tasks based on oral instruction.
Reads and understands written directions to carry out VA policies and procedures related to the job.
Understands infection control procedures.

Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this job.

Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in a laundry environment.
