About The Position

To maintain sufficient wearing apparel to enable participants to present a neat and clean appearance at all times. Provide a clean, sanitary, comfortable and orderly surrounding for the residents, employees and public. Promote sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infection and odors.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
No disqualifying events on criminal background check.
No disqualifying events on Health Care Workers Registry
Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test
Pass training modules and OJT program approved by Illinois DHS
Ability to read, write and follow simple oral and written instructions
Capable of lifting 30 pounds or more.
Able to stoop, kneel, bend, reach, push, pull, stand and walk as need
Lift and carry cleaning equipment
Remain free of alcohol and/or illegal substance use while working; as determined by random testing
Become CPR/1 st Aid certified and remain certified throughout employment

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as a janitor or housekeeper preferred

Responsibilities

Comply with laundry procedures in accordance with IDPH standards.
Launder and replace wearing apparel in such a manner as to maintain a neat and clean appearance.
Be aware of common safety precautions during daily routine and report potential hazards to the Residential Staff Manager, maintenance department or administration.
Report equipment repair needs to maintenance department or Residential Staff Manager immediately.
Straighten wardrobes and drawers when putting clean clothes away.
Make every effort to locate owners of unmarked apparel. Do not allow unmarked items to pile up.
Cleans floors, washers, dryers, sinks: maintain cleanliness of Laundry room.
Empty garbage at end of shift
Clean lint from dryer and washer drain lint filter
Work and cooperate with staff from other departments.
Work independently.
Attend in-service meetings and seminars.
Other duties as assigned by Residential Staff Manager.
