About The Position

The Laundry Worker at Great Plains Health is responsible for the entire process of linen management, from collection to distribution. This includes collecting, sorting, and laundering soiled linen, as well as folding, sorting, and distributing clean linen to various departments. The role also involves mending linen when necessary. A key aspect of the position is having a working knowledge of commercial washers, dryers, sewing machines, and the associated chemicals used in the laundering process. The individual will be responsible for loading and unloading machines, cleaning lint traps, and operating a folder machine. Additionally, the role requires maintaining an adequate supply of linen for daily use, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas daily, and demonstrating punctuality and adherence to break schedules. Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years old and currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent educational program.
  • Has working knowledge of washers, dryers, sewing machine and associated chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, sorting and laundering soiled linen.
  • Folding, sorting and distributing clean linen.
  • Mending linen as necessary.
  • Loading and unloading washers and dryers.
  • Cleaning lint traps.
  • Picking up soiled laundry at times weighing 40 lbs.
  • Multi-tasking folding linen, pulling dryers and refilling.
  • Folding laundry according to departmental policy and procedure.
  • Properly loading carts with clean linen and delivering it to designated departments.
  • Maintaining an adequate supply of linen for daily use to all departments.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment daily, including linen carts and tables.
  • Maintaining a clean safe working environment.
  • Demonstrating punctuality in arrival and departure, and compliance with break and meal times.
  • Operating commercial washers and dryers.
  • Operating folder machine.
