In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Laundry Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in the laundry department. This role involves assisting with linen levels and inventory requests, transporting full linen carts throughout the hospital for delivery of clean linen, and making emergency deliveries as needed. The Laundry Worker also puts together linen orders for off-site locations, transports and collects soiled linen, sorts soiled linen for washing, and washes linen using appropriate chemical formulas. Further duties include loading and unloading linen from dryers, running linen through an ironer and small piece folder for processing, and operating all required equipment and machinery. The position also entails assisting with the training of new employees and requires adherence to MHS Standards of Excellence and strict confidentiality.
